Busy November
The month of November this year is quite busy for us, with lots of diverging events and goings-on.
Most important and ominous: Kristin has surgery the Monday before Thanksgiving. For those unaware, she has horrible scoliosis that required her to have metal rods implanted in her back a couple years ago. The top of the rods have been rubbing under her back muscles causing her to be in constant pain, so we are having them trimmed off.
Last Sunday was Mr. Pink Panther, a fund raiser for the Pink Panthers (Kristin’s high school dance team) where the high school boys have a talent show of sorts and the girls dance. Its always entertaining and this year Kristin danced and Jake competed for the title. He didn’t win but he had a ton of fun.
Bike Bash was last weekend as well, so we all went to stay in Omaha with Kayla and Jeff. That was fun, seeing them in their natural habitat. While I was at Bike Bash drinking Guinness (Thanks Mark S!) Kandy and Kayla were shopping, Kristin was at the Nebraska game, and Jake and Jeff were gaming. Wow.
This coming weekend we will stay in Omaha again to be there early enough for Kris’ surgery. I am going to Lincoln though on Sunday so I can race in the Nebraska State Cyclocross Championships. I am anxiously anticipating this. I feel like I am ready, as ready as I can be at this stage of the year and given the distractions I have had. It will be a blast.
Capping off the month is Thanksgiving, which will be a quiet one this year. We are still alternating holidays so most of the kids will be with their other parents, but I am sure they will wander in and out all weekend.
Add work, work, work, and work, some other fun things to do, and the start of Christmas shopping to the list and the month is quite full.
